Prison Break

Since I moved to Texas in 2000, I have dreamed of escaping the five long months of harassment that is summer. Every 100-degree day, we live a prison of air conditioning, with it saccharine-fake fresh breeze.
So this year, I did it! I made a reservation for a cabin at the YMCA of the Rockies in Estes Park, CO. And we have to drive about 16 hours to get there. But I don’t care. Bring on the crying! Bring on the car barf!
Besides, we can load the car’s DVD player with every episode of Scooby Doo — including the “Pup Named” versions, so we got this. We good. We will go up, up, up to the land of campfires, biking, sweaters-at-night and macrame. For five chilly nights, we will escape this rung of Dante’s Inferno.
